Imminent Call-ups in the Toronto Blue Jays Chain - by Moses

Imminent Call-ups - As the Blue Jays have called up Riley Adams (bats right - age 25) to the 'bigs for his accomplishments in Buffalo, they have a few more call-ups imminent for this year.  Bisons' lefties Taylor Saucedo (age 28) and Kirby Snead (age 26) are both primed for the Majors.  It looks like Gabriel Moreno (bats right - age 21) won't be called up to the show this year (as the Jays are giving a shot to Adams first).  Then there is Kevin Smith (bats right - age 24), a second base / third basemen who is putting up lofty numbers in Buffalo currently.  There is also lefty starter Zach Logue (age 25) who is likewise primed for a few starts this year with the big club (currently sitting with a 6.29 Strikouts/Walks ratio).  Jacob Waguespack (RHP - age 27) also has a fantastic Strikouts/Walks ratio of 5:1 this year in Buffalo, and is deserving of some innings in the show.  Waguespack had good numbers with the Jays in 2019 and should be considered for 7th, 8th inning duties this year (with his pedigree taken into account).  Connor Overton (RHP -age 27) has also put up top notch numbers in Buffalo and is likewise deserving of a shot in the 'bigs.

The Scheifele Hit

 Game one in the Montreal/Winnipeg series and it was obvious that Scheifele had bad blood for Montreal.  It was a gross display of excessive force.  The suspension of 4 games was given to Sheifele as punishment.  Was that penalty severe enough?  In the early thirties Eddie Shore of the Boston Bruins body-checked Ace Bailey of Toronto into the boards with a cross-check.  The injury to Bailey signified the end of his career.  At the end of the year Shore publicly apologized to Bailey and was forgiven and the two shook hands at center ice.  The NHL held an all-star game the following year in Ace Bailey's name as the Toronto Maple Leafs played against the NHL All-Stars.

  In defense of Sheifele many would say he isn't a dirty player but delivered a dirty hit.  There is a difference.  In Scheifele's career this suspension carries weight towards further disciplinary action against Sheifele if he uses excessive force like that in the future.  This was however, his first serious offence.  The problem in the NHL, NFL, and CFL is that they can't demand of their players past a point.  At some level there has to be discretion used by the players in the deliverance of physical play within boundaries.  These are PHYSICAL sports and the players understand the risk they take in playing on ice or on the grid iron.  What do we make of Angelo Mosca, a man who once threatened Harold Ballard and said something along the lines of 'if your Sheppard looks at me funny I'll slug him in the chops'.  For all intensive purposes this incident won't be forgotten but dealt with in the off-season and during the next Montreal/Winnipeg game of next year.  Nothing dirty but a fight at center ice - Shea Weber versus Mark Scheifele.  My bet is for Weber to deliver a shit-kicking.

2021 Toronto Blue Jays Projected Statistics and Imminent Call-Up - by Moses (a.k.a Stacey Marc Goldman)

Imminent Call-Up - Gabriel Moreno;  Moreno is a Double A Catcher who is batting .373 to start the year, and has tallied 45 RBI's with 8 Home-runs to date this year in only 126 At-Bats.  He knows how to draw walks and has a decent strikeout to walk ratio.  Moreno is also adept at throwing out base-runners evidenced by his career throw out rate at 35% which is higher than any catcher in the Blue Jays chain (44% CS this year).  He makes very few errors and would compliment McGuire, and either Jansen or Kirk very well in the development of our young arms, throwing out runners, and batting .280+ (if and when he is called up to the big leagues).  Similar to last year when the Jays brought up Alejandro Kirk from A Ball in Dunedin (and he had tremendous success at the big league level) the Jays could see huge dividends with Moreno.  Our Triple A Starting Catcher is Riley Adams in Buffalo with the Bisons.  Adams has clubbed 6 Home-runs this early into the season but is not as adapt at throwing out potential basestealers, as Moreno has a better arm and is more gifted defensively.  The reality is that Adams gets first crack at playing with the Blue Jays and even that will be short-lived with the return of Alejandro Kirk (coming back on a rehab mission in Buffalo currently)  Moreno is the Blue Jays catcher of the future and this could lead the Jays to deal Adams or Jansen for some more bullpen help or a top two starter to take us into the playoffs this year.
