just some spare thoughs on my first blog again..or ever?

So they say middle age starts around forty.. Ive been reading this book called Book of Ages, it is chronologically captured from the age of zero to one hundred years of significant people who have made some contribution of history regardless of origin and deed committed to destiny. Such as fascinating read! This book bascially tells living actual accounts of people who have lived and died and any age and some how left a mark on this planet. I feel pretty much this same way today as I hear about his Jack passing. Felt also when I met Pat Burns (former coach of the Montreal Canadians Hockey team) in that same city. I was ?? 18 at the time and I remember he told me to consider coming to Toronto if I wanted to pursue acting ( it was 1987) ..In Montreal I stayed as I heard The Habs were fans of a cheesy soap opera I was a starring in 1988....I heard The Habs loved catching an episode after a practice or before a match at 4:30 pm. Now with jack I met him and Olivia at the Actra Awards in Toronto. He was so pleasant and we spoke twice on subjects of the arts and possible leeway to grants..Life does happen and I guess It sure did to Jack as we wont have that chance now for a personal endorsement but ..we must live on..there has to be a bigger picture than ..the passing of a great one. The man was 61..Twenty years shy of my shy youthful 42 .. Middle age..as I felt ..I did that when I was ..25-35.. The hard revolutions..the survival tactics of cool. I think we got it all wrong. Jack Layton and Pat Burns were fighters of a different generation still part of mine where now middle age is starting to kick in for any one over 70 least we forget that Mick n Keith are over that. Falling off coconut trees on pirate movie sets and knocks up some young 20 year old model. Hugh Hefner..good Lord will he ever fuckin grow up! ? I feel the new term will be called Old Age Crisis or Death Watch on bets.. The elderly in France .. Italy these days are chillin and ain't going anywhere soon as long as that ritrovol aka red wine in Europe flows like Cod liver oil. For now it is really survival of the fittest and I and aint middleing now age crisis! Except for some back pain. oi..

Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada

Queen Elizabeth II is visiting Canada this week. It is sometimes difficult to wrap your head around the fact that she is also Queen of Canada. She is actually our head of government. When I swore allegiance to Canada when I became a citizen back in, I think it was 1964, I actually swore to be her subject and loyal t...o her. I do know British and Canadian history well so I know how this all came to be but it is still feels strange and absurd. The one good thing about it is that it does keep us from having a president whose head could easily get too big. In Canada we do not get too empresses with our prime ministers.

Government Coup, Canadian Style -by Pindsvin

On October 14, 2008, Canada had a Federal Election that returned Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Constrictive Government to power leading a minority government for a second term. The major political parties preformed as following in the election.

Stephen Harper, Conservative 37%
Stephane Dion, Liberal 26%
Jack Layton, New Democrats 18%
Gilles Duceppe, Bloc Quebecois 10%

During the month of November, the Conservative party tabled a number of policy's that greatly upset the opposition parties. The response of the Oppisition was a plot headed by Jack Layton, of the New Democrat Party and Gilles Duceppe of the Bloc Quebecois. Stephane Dion, of the Liberal Party eagerly joined because it would leave him the great prize. The plot called for the three opposition parties to join in a coalitions and topel the Conservative government by voting non-confidence in the Government. This would cause the government to fall. The two parties, Liberal and new Democrat would then go to the Governor General, Michaelle Jean and ask that their coalition be given the right to form a Government since they together now have a majority government. Stephane Dion would be the new Prime Minister, and Jack Laton would get a top cabinet post. Gilles Duceppe, would not take an active part in the coalition because he heads a Quebec separatist party. He would pledge to vote with the coalition there by giving it a +50% vote and a parliamentary majority.

The problem with this coalition plan is that when the people voted on October 14 there was no talk of a coalition. All the parties were name calling each other, and only talking about how great their own policies were and how bad the other were. The Liberal party did poorly and lost a number of seats. Another problem is that Stephane Dion has been a totally ineffective leader and incapable of uniting the Liberal Party. Also, he has not been able to inspire confidence in the general public. This may have to do with the fact that when he speaks English his accent is so strong that it is difficult to understand him. After loosing the election it was understood that he would be replaced as Liberal leader as soon as a leadership convention could be called.

When we heard the news last week that a coalition of the three loosing parties were planning to vote non confidence in the government, and then form their own government with Stephen Dion as Prim Minister, I and many others were outraged. I did not go and vote for a coalition of losers to run the Federal Government. If this had been their plan the three leaders should have run on that platform.

The argument that Stephen Harper was trying to pass legislation that was financially harmful to other parties and that he was not doing enough to stimulate the economy does not wash. In a minority Government you already have the power to stop or influence all legislation. So Harper could not pass legislation that a united opposition felt strongly against.
