NHL Lockout Review
1. Still no U.S Television contract for the NHL
2. Since Gary Betteman became Commissioner for the NHL there have been two work stoppages, and Canada has lost 1 Team (2 Teams before the Winnipeg Jets were re-instated).
3. Most Team Owners are in the Black
4. The average NHL Players' salary is roughly $2.5 Million U.S.D/Year
Solutions
1. Cap minimum and maximum salaries until the collective bargaining agreement reaches its' next conclusion. Create a provision to increase these caps by inflationary and cost of living adjustments BEFORE the next collective bargaining session, so as to avert the next work stoppage.
2. Downsize the U.S.A contingent of the NHL, as they're the ONLY ones' LOSING money.
3. Establish 4 New Teams in Canada;
a) Quebec City, Quebec
b) Markham, Ontario
c) Regina, Saskatchewan
d) Halifax, Nova Scotia
4. Sign a U.S television contract for the NHL that is worthy and appropriate to the average fan in Philadelphia and Chicago (real Hockey Fans). In other words, Friday or Saturday Night Hockey as opposed to Sunday afternoon games. NO streaking pucks to signify a pass or a shot. Just the game itself.
5. Give a realistic salary cap that the Owners can commit to, and create a provision to make adjustments to the cap before the next collective bargaining agreement ends that take into account inflation and cost of living of allowance.
6. Create a Dollar Parity between each Nations' contingent. In other words, negotiate based on only 1:1 exchange rates between U.S and Canadian currencies. Allow for a Team Owner (regardless of which nation they're based in) $75 Million NHL Dollars/year to operate for Player Salaries. Call it NHL Monopoly Money. Insure to each Team Owner that the Leagues Total Profits will be adjusted into real Dollars at the conclusion of the fiscal year.
7. Take Profit Sharing (after all labour costs *) and divide it 50%/50% between the players and the owners.
8. Fire Gary Betteman when all is said and done.
* Labour costs include the players' salaries, likewise that of the Zamboni operator, stadium announcer, anyone working for the team Owner, including Management Salaries.

Diasable This !!! Newsletter - by Moses
Some have said we abide by the law 'Survival of the Fittest'.
What do we make of the accomplishments of Stephen Hawkins? A man with practically no ability to fight back, yet he revolutionized the technology industry through deduction.
In the 1970's and 1980's a man was said to exercise 5% of their mind on average. Today it is reported that a man exercises 20% of their mind on average.
My late Uncle, Allan Marvin Kay, summized this on Stereo Devices;
Take the VCR Tape and run it master to the Receiver, and in turn run the Receiver master to the Television. This is what we see in Post-Production Facilities across North America. In other words my
late Uncle was a pioneer in recording techniques (as prior to his technique the television was master to the VCR tape, leading to sound degradation).
Allan took several post-secondary courses yet he still couldn't find placement in the workforce. At that time (during the 1970's) people with Cerebral Palsy had no chance to enter the workforce. In many
ways' it killed him to not be able to enter the workforce and have a chance to shine.
The social service quagmire leaves many people across Canada wondering why people on Disability Allowance don't re-enter, or rather enter the workforce. There is still a major stigma towards people on a disability pension. Most Canadians look at a disability pensioner as being a financial burden.
In actual fact, most I know that are receiving a disability allowance in Canada want to be employed. Instead of looking at the negatives of a persons' disability, we should be looking at the innate
abilities that even disability pensioners' possess. This would, in turn allow for more disability pensioners to enter gainful employment and exit the current social service quagmire.
